Weekly weight: 203.8 lbs

Sorry the pic is a bit wonky but I was so surprised that there wasn’t a gain from last night’s outing that I almost dropped the camera. Last night a friend passed through town and he had his heart set on a particular favorite restaurant so that is where we went. It was an Old School Italian place. By that I don’t mean authentic to Italy, I mean old school in the make your own sauce and pasta then cover it with mountains of cheese. Seriously we there was enough cheese that if we each peeled the topper and linked it with the other, we could have had a rather substantial cheese duvet.

Not the worst idea on a cold night. But not exactly low cal either.

Despite my awe of the cheese blankets, the food was good. Pasta and sauce were made in hose and apparently all the cheese was made locally as well. those are some very hard working cows.

I also did not eat my entire cheese blanket.

I did laugh and have a great time. I expected to pay for it on the scale but I suppose the extra effort I put in this week in anticipation of eating out worked out.

(And yes I am currently happy dancing in my desk chair.)

Oh and I got to hear a tale of a fundietary tool. Knowing my love of perfume and spices and the fact that I tend to sniff pretty much everything before I use it, I was told of a scent related dietary device. I have not seen it in action and don’t know the name (but trust me I will be looking it up just to see if it is real if nothing else) but apparently it consists of several vials of food related scents and several little sponges on strings. The idea is that you saturate the sponge with the scent of the high caloric food you want to eat, then place the sponge under your nose (tying it on you head with the string). Then once you have tricked yourself with the scent of something delicious, you eat celery, or whatever low caloric food you have on hand.

I get the theory. Scent is tied to taste and even though we all say you eat with your eyes first, it is your nose that really counts (anyone with a cold can tell you that, but there is actual scientific evidence).

I’m a big fan of avoiding diet fads and schemes, going instead for the eat less, move more approach, but I find the thought of this more amusing than most and felt like sharing it. I went to bed last night picturing diners in restaurants offered high end scent saturated nose plugs and plates of low cal, low taste food. I have to say I rather enjoy falling asleep giggling. I hope the thought amuses you too. Now, to the stats!

I don’t know what the rest of your Friday morning holds, but I hope it’s good. I’ll be back this afternoon for the Friday Face Mask and a little bit of afternoon relaxation. Until then, I’m going to try to clear my inbox before the weekend. wish me luck.
