Weekly Weight: 205.4 lbs

Normally when I get on the scale I am hoping for a loss, this morning, I was just hoping I didn’t gain too much. I knew the weight gain was coming. My meal plan crumbled and calorie counting went out the window and every time I attempted a workout something interrupted. And it wasn’t normal interruptions either. Oh no.

There was nothing normal about this week.

We started the week with the washing machine deciding to flood the laundry room. when we bought the house about three years ago the appliances came with it so we knew we probably had a limited amount of time before we needed to replace them, and slowly we have. So it wasn’t a completely unexpected event. It was just more dramatic than it had to be and involved a large chunk of my day cleaning up water and rinsing soap from clothes in the sink before chucking them in the dryer.

Thank god the dryer didn’t believe is solidarity with the washing machine because this is the week the rains hit. and they hit hard. Lots of flooding outside. Some streets were impassable and schools were being let out early. Of course they were closed for a few days last week when the schools were decontaminated from the recent wave of bronchitis and flu that hit just as hard as the rain. I began to think I might have missed the memo about the apocalypse. Perhaps my neighbors aren’t building a house behind me but an ark.

Of course the construction was an interesting element to this week as well and manged to derail not only my attempts to visit the gym but handicap many of the other neighbors as well. You see, there has been a lot of digging on the construction site. They had to dig to put in the footings and level things for the foundation. They dug to add services and they had that odd pile of sand at the back of the site that all construction seems to have at one point or another. All of which they were doing a good job of containing. Until the rains hit. And they realized the new house is on a slight rise.

Yup, with no grass or any landscaping whatsoever to hold it in place, we had a mudslide.

No one was hurt and nothing was really damaged, the curbs actually channeled most of it into the street actually. But the street was blocked for several hours. I know I could have just done one of the work out videos that day, but to be honest, it was really hard not to just sit there and watch them deal with the mess from my living room window.

After all, how often are you gonna see that? Let alone have a front row seat?

The final death knell in my workout plan was when Agness showed up on my doorstep claiming someone stole her keys and that there was a sneak thief about. She told me of several items missing. As her kids took her keys from her about a year ago I wasn’t overly concerned and so I sat her down with some coffee, told her I would call the authorities and then I called her kids. they came and got her and later in the day one of them returned with a casserole dish filled with beef stroganoff as a thank you.

It was real homemade beef stroganoff too, with the egg noodles, and real cream in the sauce. It was fatty and delicious. We had it for dinner last night and I think it send my darling dearest into some sort of beef and cream induced daze. I think he actually saw dancing unicorns.

So yeah, this week was weird.

Could I have worked around it, in some cases yes. But I didn’t and so I accept that I fell down this week. I will just have to get up dust myself off and get back into my stride again and not let the setback take me down permanently. One little set back is not the end of my weight loss and it isn’t a reason to give up.

So unless the apocalypse is truly upon us, normality is about to resume. This afternoon I will sit down and plan out next week’s meals. Shopping and meal prep will commence over the weekend and the world will right itself. I’ll admit it though. Tonight, we’re having the left over stroganoff.

This week’s weight: 205.4 lbs

Change in weight this week: +1.6 lbs

Total weight lost thus far: 50.6 lbs

Weight left to lose (apx): 82.4 lbs

I don’t know if anyone else out their working on weight loss (or any other long term project really) had smooth sailing or rough seas this week. If you had a rough week, just remember some weeks are just going to be out of your control. Try not to be too hard on yourself for not controlling the entire world. Survive the rough, and start again. You only really lose if you stop trying to achieve your goal. Besides, it can’t rain all the time.
