Happy May everyone. April (and to be honest most of March) seem like a bit of a blur so I have to say I found it strange to be typing May today. Still I am very happy to see the numbers on the scale lower just a little bit. Every little bit helps and together all of the little bits add up.
At least that is what I remind myself when I wish the numbers changed more. I may accept that my goal is to still move forward just a little each week and not gain anything, but it doesn’t really keep me from wanting the weight gone.
But it is still less, so I’m happy.
Also from the closet last night my baby extracted the flat weight board part of our Wii. I completely forgot we still had it. We also still have the Wii fit disk in with our videos. Apparently he found it when looking for Vincent Price and remembered we had the board. So next week I may try to incorporate that into my workout schedule. Depending on if we have enough batteries or not.
It’s nice to have something to look forward to.
I have to say, I have been looking at things a little differently around the house lately. I think its a consequence of spending more time inside and at home to be honest. Maybe its just taking notice of details I never really slow down to see. One of those was one I saw this morning and found a little amusing.
Both my baby doll and I are big coffee drinkers. I tend to drink coffee in the morning and then mid afternoon I go for a cup or two of black tea. He likes coffee and an array of herbal teas. Oddly enough I like growing the herbs and drying them for teas more than I like drinking it. Unless I’m sick. Then it is Lemon ginger tea with a spoonfull of honey for me at least once an hour until I feel better or I slosh when I walk.
When we initially stocked our pantry for our extended time home, the regular bags of coffee were all gone from our local store. so we went for the big tubs on the bottom shelf. There shining bright was the Chock full ‘o Nuts coffee cans. I swooped and we took them home.
Some of you may be familiar, others not, but growing up this was the brand of coffee my father and grandfather both swore by. In addition, all empty cans ended up in their respective work shops where they lived forevermore, collecting odd bolts and screws, holding strange tools that didn’t quite fit on the peg board, spare change or extra keys no one could find the lock to. They were more than many other things, a consistent backdrop to my childhood. We moved around a lot and those cans went with us.
I found it oddly comforting that it was going into quarantine with me. Plus when I brewed up my first pot of coffee with it I realized, it is really good coffee. (We got the New York Roast if you are curious.)
This morning as I took out the can of coffee I spotted the recycling label on the side. I’ll include the picture but for some reason it tickled me to see. “Steel Can – Infinitely recyclable” and of course below it the explanation. I found this amusing because in out house, the odds of one of the cans making it to the recycling instead of being reused right at home was slim to none. The second was that reading it in my half awake state it seemed as thous someone took the time to word their recycling statement as a polite but direct challenge to plastic.
A throwing down of the gauntlet, if you will.
It tickles me deep deep in my soul and makes my good cup of coffee taste just a little bit better this morning. I know my amusement may not be universal, and I think its because of the people I knew who loyally drank this coffee, but I hope some of you see the humor too. And yes, the one can we have emptied is now in the laundry room where it is already starting to collect loose bits like screws and pennies.
But on to the stats:
Starting weight: 246 lbs
Last week’s weight: 207.2 lbs
This week’s weight: 206.8 lbs
Weight lost this week: 0.4 lbs
Weight lost thus far: 39.2 lbs
Weight left to lose (apx): 83.8 lbs
So now with a smile and a full cup of Chock full ‘o Nuts Coffee, I am starting off my day. I hope everyone has a good morning and I will see you all this afternoon for the Friday Face mask. Enjoy your day.
