Oh my darlings today is a good day. The sun is out today. And, although the weather is unseasonably cool and I may have to cover my small tomato plants, the walking trail was dry enough to walk. There were parts of it that smelled a little fishy, but a fresh wind was blowing so those parts were small and I just used the faster walking to get my heartrate up a little higher.
So it all worked out.
I got my exercise in and I feel great.
It helps that my body is starting to adjust to the gym and the Monday, Wednesday, Friday work out schedule. so Tuesdays and Thursdays are no longer a misery of aching muscles. I will say though I have been using the Elemis Muscle Ease Active Body oil after my showers lately, mostly on my arms and shoulders, and it has really helped me out. The scent is a bit strong, but fades quickly. My legs and abs have adjusted well to the new routine but my arms struggle. I’ve always struggled with working out my arms so I’m not surprised. I am really liking the Elemis for my arms right now. I’ll have to post a full review soon.
Also, yesterday’s mail came really late in the day (6:30 pm actually. Usually it shows up around noon) and in the mail was a box from Influenster. They chose me to review a Tom Ford Foundation. This is one of those foundations I was always curious about but never bought. I wanted to try a sample before picking up a full sized bottle (It retails for $88) but I could never found a sample. I used an eyeshadow quad from Tom Ford quite a while ago and it was fantastic. It performed well and the packaging felt super luxe. I was kind of surprised that the foundation came in a plastic bottle. I don’t know if that is just for the influenster trial or standard and will have to look into it. The packaging just took me a little by surprise. Actually before I get too far into anything, lets list today’s products.
Primer: Marc Jacobs Blurfection Primer
- Marc Jacobs still has a 30% off Sitewide sale going on right now
Foundation: Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation (sent by Influenster)
Face Palette: 4 in 1 Skin Perfecting Powders by Pur
Eyeshadow: Lime Crime Prelude Exposed Palette
I know, It’s a shorter list because all of the face palette. I really do like the Pur Face Palette and find it really easy to grab and use. The blush is slightly bright for me, but otherwise it is about perfect.
I went ahead and used the Marc Jacobs Primer again because it was still on the dressing table, I used it all week so I knew how it performed and I happen to like it. Just remember less is more and you are fine. This was my first application of the Tom Ford Foundation and I will be using it for at least a full week to give it a trial. On first application it applied really well. I needed one pump to cover my entire face. It felt really light weight as well, which I like. I’ve gotten so used to light weight foundations that if I try on a foundation and can really feel it throughout the day, I’m not a big fan. This is one that lightly blends into your skin so you don’t feel it. It claims Medium to Full Buildable coverage. One pump gave me what I would consider my ideal medium coverage. I’ll try building it up later just to see how it builds but with the first application I like it. How it wears, we’ll have to see.
You also might notice a new Eyeshadow Palette today. I saw the Lime Crime Prelude Palette and couldn’t resist picking it up. I love Lime Crime’s Velvetine Liquid lips, but I have never actually tried their eyeshadow. Mostly because the packaging was boxy and took up a lot of space. Which is a kind of silly reason not to try a product, but I tend to get a little nervous when my makeup collection gets larger than a certain point. It gives me a little bit of anxiety when it starts taking up too much space. It’s one of the reasons why most of my daily makeup reviews seem on the positive side. If I try a product and don’t like it, then it doesn’t linger. With something like a mascara I’ll use it up and then get rid of it but eyeshadow palettes and other face products get cleaned and passed on pretty quickly if i don’t like them. So it means if it is in my collection I like it enough to keep it around. In case you are wondering why a lot of days i seem to like everything.
So the Lime Crime Palette is new (to Me) and as a first use I really liked it. The formulas worked well for me. They layered and blended well. I’ll have to see how they last the day. As it is a new palette, I will be using it for a week solid as well to get a feel for it and how it performs. So like the Tom Ford, you will be seeing this palette for all of next week.
With mascara, I used the Fenty Beauty Full Frontal Mascara. Fenty is one of those brands that I like the aesthetics of and generally look at the product and thing ‘pretty – want to try’ but then i try it and it only seems to perform so-so. I know others rave about it, but it really is one of those so-so brands for me. But it always looks so good i want it to work. I actually have a highlighter duo I want to try testing out as eyeshadow because I don’t like it as a highlighter. But that is for another day. Today was the Full Frontal Mascara. I’ve used it before and I will keep it around, using it until it is gone, but it is not a mascara I get extremely excited about. It is good and performs well but it isn’t an OMG mascara. I actually get more of a Wow reaction from the Wet ‘n Wild Big Poppa Mascara than I do from the Fenty Beauty. I actually really like that mascara and it has now become the drug store choice to compare other mascaras to. I don’t mind spending more on higher end products, but if I’m buying a higher end product it has to outperform the drugstore version or what is the point?
But enough about mascara, to top it all off i added the Trophy Wife Lip from Huda Beauty. Fabulous formula, great color and it doesn’t dry out my lips. Let it dry for a bit before drinking your coffee or you will end up with lip prints everywhere, but otherwise it is a great performer. So that was my look today, and those are two of the products I will be testing throughout the upcoming week. I can’t wait to see how they perform.
