Good afternoon my darlings. Today was not a gym day but rather a walking in the park day. Unfortunately I forgot the temps were still inching up and came home a sweltering mess. There will be no late afternoon walk today. And in the future I am going to have to remember to switch to summer walking time hours. I did however remember my sunscreen and my favorite summertime savior, the lip balm with spf 30. The one I’ve currently got is from UltraSun. It works well and feels just like a lip balm. While sunscreen is important all over, you can’t forget that your lips need a little protection too. From now until October, my SPF filled lip balm will remain out on the desk instead of in a drawer.
Other than sweating buckets, today has been nice and quiet. I know as soon as I say that the phone will ring and chaos will descend, but I am willing to take that chance. I am actually ahead of schedule on a couple of projects at the moment. It came as a bit of a surprise because I thought one of them was dragging. So it was a nice Thursday surprise. Especially as I thought I would have to work some over the weekend to catch up and prevent next Monday from being a disaster. It’s one of those times where you actually wish that as an adult you could still get awarded gold stas like you did back in first grade. Maybe if I stay ahead I’ll pick up a lipstick this weekend as a reward.
Primer: Urban Decay All Nighter Primer
Foundation: Anastasia Beverly Hills stick foundation
Powder/Blush/ Bronzer/highlighter: Pur 4-in-1 Face Palette
Eyeshadow: Patrick Starr’s Visionary One/Size palette
I always forget how much I really like the ABH stick foundation until I take it out of the drawer. It is a little stiff at first so you have to hold the tube in your hand a minute to kind of warm it up. Once warm it blends fantastically well. It also played really well with the Urban Decay All Nighter Primer. While this primer doesn’t do a lot for filling the pores it is really good at locking makeup into place. I’m still upset that the Optical Illusion Primer seems to be discontinued though. This isn’t a substitute, but an entirely different product. So comparing them is pointless. I have about two more uses of product left in my sample sized tube. While it is a very good moisturizing primer and it really does keep makeup in place longer, I don’t think I will be picking up the full sized version. The truth is that i rarely wear makeup more than eight hours right now. For my current schedule, pore filling is more important to me than longevity. I am very glad that I tried this primer though. If my schedule changes or I have a day where I really need to extend the length of time I am wearing my makeup then I will pick this up to use. At the moment though I will be using up the last of the primer in the next few days and not repurchasing it until my schedule changes.
With the Patrick Starr Palette, I chose a couple of the browns to play with today and topped it off with the gold. The pigment is good and they blend well. The gold is nice but not over the top stunning. It is nice to use on a work day. In general the shadows are performing well. I’ll keep rotating through them as I get a feel for the palette, but thus far i like the formula.
Since I went so neutral with the eyes I chose the bright red lipstick. I really like the formula of the Elf Liquid lips. They dry down pretty fast so tidy your lines quickly. Once dry they stay in place all day without leaving lip prints on everything. Which as it is a highly pigmented red is kind of nice. Because it dries down so much though it can be a little drying. Once fully dried though I tend to put a lip balm over it periodically throughout the day. the pigment stays on the lips without contaminating the balm and the balm keeps the lips hydrated. It is a great formula if you just want to apply and then not worry about the color the rest of the day. I really do need to look into picking up more colors. Maybe that will be my personal prize for actually getting ahead on my current project. Sounds pretty good to me. A new lipstick that costs very little. Not too shabby.
