The daily: June 28th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings.  I am pleased to announce that my oral surgery went better than expected.  The swelling has now gone down and the pain meds they gave me are mercifully low dose so I can actually work instead of existing in a strange haze while I heal up.

That was one of my biggest fears.  Well, other than surgery in general.  I am happy I just get the big fat Ibuprofen pill rather than anything stronger.  It knocks the pain back , but still lets me think straight.  And now that everything is done I can let go of all the stress and angst that I’ve been carrying around.  I know it’s made some of my daily posts sound quite tense and I apologize for that.

The tension is now faded away.

I am still eating soft foods for a while and am really thankful I stocked up on smoothie mixes for the moment.  They are making things infinitely easier.  Of course I can’t use a straw at the moment either so I have to practice drinking out of one side of my mouth.  It has cause much amusement around my house.  Which I’m okay with.

I also like the fact that keeping track of my calories is easy as its pre measured.  Although I have to say, I am missing things with crunch.

It was a quiet weekend and I was sort of out of it for most of it.  I was kind of a floppy mess, truth be told.  I did binge watch Why Women Kill (which was fabulous) and then I watched a couple episodes of Evil.  That was deliciously frightening. It’s the kind of show you want to watch in the dark while snuggled under your covers so that you can sort of spook yourself.

Or at least I do.

So yeah, most of what I did this weekend was binge watch television.  There are worse ways to spend a weekend though and I needed a quiet one.  And the best part was I was ready to face the week once this morning rolled around (which was sort of the point of the quiet weekend). While I did skip the gym today, I did go on a short walk. So I am getting at least a little exercise today which is nice. My plan is to easy back into my workout routine. I’ve adjusted my calorie intake to account for the fact that I am not working out so hopefully it will balance out.

At least that’s the plan.

Today when I got ready and put my makeup on I was feeling a little exuberant so I went with the Otherworldly Palette.  I got a little crazy with the glitter actually.

The Look:

Primer: Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer

Foundation: Real Her I am Divine Powerwear

Blush/Bronzer/highlight/powder: PUR 4-in 1 Face Palette

Eyeshadow: Otherworldly by Fluide

Liner: Maybelline Masterprecise ink Liquid Liner

Brow: ABH Brow Pen

Lips: Yensa Super 8 Lip Oil in Pink Shine

Setting Spray: Porefessional Super Setter

I really like the Milk Primer and will be finishing out the sample size and putting the full sized on my to be purchased later.  I actually want to use up a few primers before I purchase more.   Well actually, I went a little crazy on the Boxy Ad ons and Added a Glam Glow Primer to my cart because I want to test it out, but over all I am trying to use up a few products before I move on to my products to repurchase list. Or at least use up the sample sizes.

While I really like the brand Real Her and love the Glow Getter Cheek Palette, I am a bit on the fence with the Real Her Foundation.  There is nothing wrong with it that I can point to, but I don’t think it is my favorite.  I’m going to be wearing it the rest of the week to see how my opinions change and then I’ll post my review, but right now I am leaning towards nice, but not my favorite.

The PUR 4-in-1 Face Palette is actually rapidly becoming one of my favorite face palettes.  The colors suit me and the products wear well.  It gives a very natural sort of look and I think I am going to be reaching for it a lot this summer.

And other favorite on this list is the Yensa Super 8 Lip Oil in Pink Shine.  As a lip oil it gives a great shine to the lips.  Even though it does wear off as the day goes on, I do find that even after it looks like it is gone, my lips end the day feeling nourished.  So I’m guessing some of the ingredients absorb in.  I really like this lip oil for the slight color and great shine as well as the hydration.

The Maybelline liquid eyeliner is actually reaching the end of its life.  I don’t tend to wear a lot of eyeliner, but every now and again I will use it.  Right now I am slowly going through my  eyeliners to see which ones have reached the ends of their life and which ones are still working.  I am also going to be getting rid of the ones I simply don’t like.  With subscription boxes it seems like there are always eyeliners coming in and I have the bad habit of testing them and then even if I’m not too fond of it, putting it in the drawer with the rest of the eyeliners.

You know, to keep things tidy.

So the ones I don’t like are mixed in with the ones I do and some of the liquids dry out. So the slow clearance.  This is a liquid liner with a brush dipped into a pot of product, which quite honestly is my favorite type.  This however was a bit rough.  The product is drying out and starting to skip more.  It did the wing okay ish but then it wouldn’t go over the eyeshadow at all. When it was new it was fabulous.  However now, it needs to go away.

The Fluide Eyeshadow Palette is a new one for me, but I was in the mood for something bright.  I started with just the green and I was just going to use the green but then the purple glitter called to me.  I should have ignored the call, but I didn’t.  The green is nice.  It applies better with a damp brush which made the Porefessional Super setter extra helpful.  It’s superfine mist helped damp the brushes just enough.  The green has stayed put really well.  Better than I expected in fact.  The purple glitter is pretty much everywhere and I suspect I will be glittery for a few days no matter how well I remove the makeup. I think I would have been happier if I just stopped after the green.  But I had to try the glitter.

Such is life.

At least I managed to break out the earrings as there was no mask involved today.  The earrings were from an Ear Fleek subscription a while back.  It was when I had the Anything Goes category but I think they were from the Boho line. It is a subscription I like keeping for a little while to get a few fun pairs of earrings and then letting go of for a bit.  It is a great way to build up a collection of inexpensive earrings.  They are all hypoallergenic and of pretty decent quality.  I also like the surprise of them.  I’ve gotten several pairs that I would never have picked out for myself but in the end I actually liked them.

I know in my skincare line up last week I mentioned trying out the Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules and liking them. If anyone is interested in those or any Elizabeth Arden products, All Beauty is having a sale with up to 60% off Elizabeth Arden Products. I’ll link the ad below for those interested.
