The Daily: October 6th, 2021

This morning, I had a plan. The sky was overcast but not raining so I thought I might sneak in a walk before getting down to work. I dressed for my walk and by the time my sneakers were laced, it was raining.

So I went with You Tube Yoga instead.

I took my hair out of the ponytail and the band snagged in my hair. I decided that even if I hadn’t made it to the salon, my hair was getting cut. So I lopped about three inches of dead scraggly ends off of it. There is still plenty for a stylist to work with and I’ll get a professional to put in layers. I know my limits.

But my hair feels so much better. It also feels a lot shorter, even though it is still quite long. I actually feel really good about that. So unexpected personal project aside, I sat down to work and the phone rang. And kept ringing.

Issues were dealt with, I decided to put on my makeup and go for a rather simple look. I was just going to use a dash of blush or maybe bronzer on my lids so I could move quickly, but then I saw the liquid shadows and realized I hadn’t used them in a while. So I used them. And then I thought, I really need eyeliner. The first three eyeliners I tried were dried up and so I wound up with the fourth, which was also close to done but by that point so was I.

Makeup done, I finally got back to what I intended to do all along.

It has just been a day where nothing has really gone as expected. Its not a bad day, just a very unexpected one. I’m hoping things settle down a bit for the rest of the afternoon though. I have a quiche planned for dinner and then my babydoll are indulging in our own October Horror movie-a-thon. Paramount + just put a bunch of horror/thriller type things up and tonight we will be watching Gretel and Hansel. I know it has been out a while but we never got around to watching it. So tonight is the night. If all goes as planned.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer

Foundation: NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil

Bronzer: Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer

Blush: bareMinerals Bounce and Blur Blush

Powder: Ciate London The Extraordinary setting powder

Eyeshadow: Too Faced Melted Chocolate and Stila Liquid Shadow in Charmed

Eyeliner: Eyeko Skinny liquid Liner in black

Mascara: Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

Lips: Elf Sheer Slick in Black Cherry

I really did just want something quick and light and if I hadn’t gotten distracted by the liquid shadows then I wouldn’t have been tempted towards the eyeliner. It was really the eyeliner that slowed me down today. I haven’t worn eyeliner in a really long time and didn’t realize how many of my liquid liners dried out. I think tonight I may sit down and just test the open ones on my hand to clear out the ones that are no longer good so that if I want to grab something quick I can be reasonably sure that it will work.

Most of the products are on my list of favorites. The bareMinerals blush topping the list of today’s products. It really is one of my favorite formulas.

Today was mostly about the liquid shadows though. I really do like both of them. Stila and Too Faced and I should reach for them more. I love that the too faced is a matte product. I applied it and used my fingers to move it around, which is why it is a bit messy. I need practice with it. Once dry it stays in place though and other products are easy to lay over it. It is a very impressive formulas actually.

Over all, despite the dried liners, in the end things worked out well. It just seems to be a day where any actual plans go out of the window. But I took care of several calls I did need to deal with, I got rid of the scraggly ends of my hair and over all, it has been a pretty good day, even if I didn’t get a walk in. And it is a good reminder. Sometimes unexpected doesn’t mean bad, it just means unexpected.
