The Daily: January 24th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings. I hope you are having a fabulous Monday. Mine has been good but busy. As you may recall we had a bout of testing done last week to detect any possible infections and both my babydoll and I passed with flying colors. There is no covid in the house and no further need for self-quarantining as we are not infecting anyone else. Mostly because we have nothing to infect them with. It was a huge relief.

And this morning it was back to work as normal. The thing is that worrying about the test was quite distracting as well. So I didn’t get nearly as much work done last week as I anticipated getting done. I think the weather also contributed to the blahs. I really feel the impact when I don’t spend any time out of doors. I did set up a work out schedule and I managed to remember my morning exercises. The weather is cold but fabulously clear so thee was also a chilly walk outside.

Beyond the fitness angle, I think it did quite a lot to blow the cobwebs out of my brain and wash the worries away. Sometimes a hit of fresh air is exactly what I need. And today that is what I got. Along with the first set of exercises in my ‘just because the weather’s bad doesn’t mean I have an excuse not to work out’ routine. I know, I’ll work on a better title later.

Today’s Look:

Primer: LYS Secure Skin Gripping Serum Primer

Foundation: Kosas Tinted Face oil

Bronzer: Buxom Staycation Vibes Roof Top Tan

Blush: bareMinerals Bounce and Blur Blush

Highlight: OFRA Highlight in Blissful

Powder: Ciate London The Extraordinary Setting Powder

Eyeshadow: Formula Z So Pretty Palette

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara (discontinued)

Lips M2U NYC Matte Liquid Lip in SOHO

Setting Spray: Porefessional Super Setter Setting Spray

Okay today the LYS Primer trial continued with an oil based foundation. I love the Kosas Tinted Face oil for when I want a more natural look. (And yes I realize I ruined the natural look with a glitter bronze eye shadow, we all know i wasn’t resisting that bronze shadow today)With Kosas though, I tend to use both a bore filling primer to keep ti from seeping into my fine lines (i concentrate the primer on places where I have the most fine lines and use the primer there, like spackle. Most of my pore filling primers tends to be mattifying as well. This LYS primer was not so I found myself shiny. Technically it could be called glowy or dewy but that is not a look I prefer so out came the setting powder. The Ciate London Extraordinary powder is a really good everyday setting powder. If you are using flash photography it can leave a little bit of a white cast, but I don’t really use flash photography. So I don’t have a problem with it. If you are worried about the white cast though, check out their coconut setting powder. It has the same great setting powder qualities, but doesn’t have the flash back issue.

Both worked well with the Kosas. I also need to remember to get the Kosas foundation out more as I really do like it. I also need to get around to ordering the Kosas sample set from Alayka. Alayka has some great sample sets that you can order where you can try out several different sample sized items from a brand before you commit to a single full sized item. Plus part of the cost of the set goes towards a full sized purchase from the brand. Kosas is on my list for their kits, although i have to say it may get bumped by the Lilah B Sample Kit. I’ve been eyeing both for a while now but keep switching my mind as to which one I want. What i really need to do is order one try it out and then a few months later order the other. They also have skin care sets in their trial kits section. If you are thinking about branching off of your normal products list and trying out some new to you clean beauty picks, this is a great way to go.

On my list of normal products to keep using has to be the Bare minerals bounce and blur blush the Buxom bronzer and the OFRA highlight. All worked really well for me today. The lip was also fantastic. M2U NYC liquid lips tend to dry down enough to stay in place but not enough to turn your lips into sand paper. Every time I use this one I think that i need to pick it up in multiple colors.

You may notice that I called in the Setting spray today. This one from Benefit Cosmetics is one of my favorites. The scent is light, the mist is fine and it does help with makeup longevity. I know I often forget the setting spray. Today I knew I was going to be trying glitter so I thought it was a good idea. And it did help a bit. Tomorrow I am going to use the setting spray and a lid primer to see if that helps more. While I love the bronze glitter, I wasn’t impressed with the other shades. They were a bit patchy and powdery and not very impressive for a first try. I’ll keep playing with them, but todays take away was that I love the bronze glitter. It does have some fall out but thus far it isn’t bad. I’ll be monitoring it and because I like the shade I will do my best to see how well I can lock it in place. Truthfully, it might be the only shadow I like in this palette. So it may end up being an interesting review after I’ve tried it out a bit more.

And that was today’s make up. And I am going to be taking it and myself back to work. Hopefully now that the tests came back negative and I’ve had the walk to clear my head this afternoon will be far more productive. Fingers crossed. Hope your Monday is working well, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.

Weekly Weight: 214.0 lbs

I’ll admit, the 0.2 lbs loss isn’t that exciting. However, it is a loss and this week, that is kind of a surprise to see. We started off the week with snow and ice where walking was not only not fun, but slippery and slightly dangerous. There was one day where the weather cooperated and worked out well. On that day I got a double walk in.

Then the snow and rain returned and the walking trail was no longer fit for use.

It is the curse of having the majority of my exercise as an outdoor activity. Somedays, the outdoors don’t cooperate. So this weekend I am going to be sitting down and coming up with an indoor exercise plan. At the moment I don’t actually have one. I basically plan to walk on the walking trail and then have to scramble to find an indoor workout when the weather shuts my plan down.

And to be honest, when the weather is bad I often forget to set up an indoor workout and just go back to my desk. Lord, knows there is always something that could use a little extra time and attention. I generally remember that i skipped the indoor workout when I am brushing my teeth before bed.

Which isn’t helpful.

So I think I am going to set up an indoor workout schedule that I can do as a routine. I think if I make it a habit two to three times a week, and then add the walk when the weather approves, I will be on a better track. I would love to go back to the gym, but at this point in time, I just don’t trust the gym. There are too many people not wiping down their machines after use and too high of an infection rate in my area. But I need to stop letting that be an excuse to skip workouts. During lockdown I built up my home equipment. It is time to put it back into use.

I really think that for me, the routine scheduling is the key. If it is routine, it goes on the calendar and needs to be checked off. Waiting and seeing, just means it often gets forgotten. I know this about myself. I just need to sit down and do it.

The stats:

Starting Weight: 246.0 lbs

Last week’s Weight: 214.2 lbs

This week’s weight 214.0 lbs

Lost this week: 0.2 lbs

Lost over all: 32 lbs

So my darlings, this weekend we plan and then we schedule. Workouts go on the calendar so that they will get done.

The Daily: January 12th, 2022

Good afternoon my darlings. Today was a hard start for me. I woke up and hit the snooze alarm as many times as I possibly could get away with. And then I wished for at least another fifteen more minutes. Alas it was not to be. Instead I dragged myself out of bed and completed all of my morning tasks while downing as much coffee as was conceivably possible.

Which was an entire pot actually. It was the Amora Medium Roast actually. And it was quite lovely. I know that the just launched a selection of teas on their website. I may have to order some of them to try out. They do make great coffee though. And today was definitely a coffee day.

It was also a walking day. The sun is out and while it is cold enough to require bundling up, it isn’t actually that bad outside. There is less humidity in the air, and the wind is almost non-existent. And without that wind, the temps seemed much higher than they actually were. So I ended up on two much longer walks than I planned. Considering I have barely had a chance to stretch my legs for the last week or so, I can’t really regret either of the walks. It did mean I had to jettison anything extra about my day in order to stay on top of the to do list.

Sadly, makeup was one of the things I let go. I figured no one was going to see me unless they spotted me on my walk and as it is Wednesday I am also going to be using my Juice Beauty Bamboo Mask (This month I am using it Monday and Wednesday to try it out) so I cut out the time needed to apply and then later remove my makeup for the mask. which helped make up the time lost during the walk. My body feels a little bit better even if there is no makeup to share.

On my return from my second walk I did have a package waiting for me though. It is my new Oral B electric toothbrush. I know, not exactly glamorous but I have been looking forward to it’s arrival. I used to use an electric toothbrush and I loved it, but then it died and I never replaced it. It was a battery operated model and at some point it just stopped working. When Oral B had a sale I decided it was time to get a new one. This one doesn’t have batteries, just a charging stand. And it is charging as we speak getting ready for my post dinner brush.

And yeah, I do kind of find that exciting.

But that has been my day. Fabulous walking conditions, excitement over new teas at Amora Coffee, an upcoming mask and a new electric toothbrush. Mixed in with lots of paperwork. It may not have been a fireworks kind of day, but over all, it’s a pretty good one thus far.

The Scale: January 7th, 2022

Good morning my darlings. What a mess it is out there. Most of the world looks like it has been encased in glass. And honestly the afternoon doesn’t look like it is going to get much better. Yesterday’s power was spotty almost as if the powerlines were sending out Morse code messages. Twenty minutes out equals a dot and forty minutes out is a dash.

I am not fluent enough in Morse Code to know exactly what was being said but I like to think a rough interpretation would be: Help, this Ice is too heavy for me to carry.

We ended up losing power for a few hours sometime in the night, but it was back on in the morning and all the clocks were flashing at us. I think it may be the first time all of our clocks were showing the exact same time.

But you didn’t tune in for the weather report, you came for the weight report. The first of the new year. If you have been following along then you know that I took December off from the scale. It was a gift to myself and a kindness to others. While I didn’t plan to go completely bonkers, I wasn’t going to let concerns over my calorie count dominate the holidays. I was going to enjoy being with friends and family and let the weight take a back seat. Especially as celebrations were less through video cameras this year than last.

Over all I did fairly well. My last weight post with the scale in November was 212.0 so there was a bit of a gain over the holidays, but it wasn’t too devastatingly bad. And to be fair, the treats I did indulge in, were the sorts of treats that only come around once a year. They aren’t everyday things. I think that was my biggest fear. That I would use the rich holiday foods to start indulging in everyday items. You know the sort of thing…

After a wedge of that baked brie with apricot jam, surely a candy bar won’t actually matter.

But I am happy to say that didn’t happen. I stuck to small portions of the special holiday treats and did not let them lead me to indulgences that are available year round. I’m not saying that a wheel of brie coated in apricot jam and then wrapped in prosciutto and puff pastry is in any way diet food (which is why there was a gain over the holidays) but it isn’t something I typically make on a Wednesday evening either.

Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind having it more often because it is delicious. I just know I shouldn’t. So we are starting fresh with the stats. while I will still list my original starting weight as a reminder (and encouragement), today’s weight is where we start off 2022.

The Stats:

Starting Weight: 246.0 lbs

This week’s weight (and the start of 2022): 215.4 lbs

While I am happy with the healthier aspects I’ve built into my life and understand that stress and elements well beyond my control took a toll on my weight loss plans, I feel that I now have a better handle on things. And I have a good feeling about this year’s weight loss. I look forward to chipping away at that number and hope to see a significantly smaller one at the end of this year. More important than the number though, I’ve figured out what I need to be healthy and happy, and that, more than the number on the scale, is my ultimate goal.

The Daily: December 20th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. The sun is shining brightly and the air is not so cold today. Despite that it is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. All of the houses on my street have lights out and decorations up. As our neighborhood is in a transitional stage, with some people having lived here for fifty plus years and are expecting the visitation of grandchildren and others ae newly moved in with small children it is an interesting mix of designs. Some of the decorations look like they have been rolled out of the garage every year for decades and other still have that new out of the box feel to them.

Because the weather is so nice, I did an extra turn around the neighborhood before hitting the walking trail. Even though it is daylight and the lights won’t come on until after dark it was still nice to see.

And then the nice weather tempted me into a much longer walk than I planned. Which sort of has me running out of time today. I am trying to get the last of my assigned tasks done today and tomorrow so that I can take a few days off for the holidays. At least that is the plan. And if I don’t keep sidetracking myself, I should be able to get it done.

Unfortunately today that means no makeup and mask. However I did get something in the mail today that I wanted to share with you. It is all part of my making sure I am squared away to eliminate as much waste as possible from my world in 2022 plan. I know, my titles need work.

When IPSY had their last Add on Holiday sale I picked up this cleansing kit from Simple Satch.I loved the baby blue color and the fact that it has eight reusable rounds in the kit. I am always running out of those. And for some reason kits like putting three or six in a kit even though there are seven days in a week and I use the rounds both in the morning and evening.

Obviously more than just the rounds came in the kit. It has a face cloth which I am looking forward to trying out, two thick but soft scrunchies and a headband with a Velcro clasp. I’m going to be indulging in little spa moments the entire week before New Year’s Eve so this little kit will get put to use very soon. Off the bat though I was impressed with the quality of the items in the kit so I thought I’d share.

And now the kit is going into the bathroom to await use and I am getting back to work. With luck a hard push today and a focused effort tomorrow and then I can take a well needed break. Wish me luck!

Weekly Weight: No Scale December rolls on…

This week was again a no scale week.  I am kind of relieved by it this week.  The weekend was filled with extra goodies and while I did manage to hold myself in check, it was the cold that got to me.  In many cases social distancing meant bundling up and spending more time outside because there was space and fresh air and no one was cooped up in someone else’s house.

Which makes sense.

It also made the warm foods so much more appealing.  In fact no one really had any sort of raw veg out for snacking as everyone more or less assumed it was going to be too cold for anyone to want it.  Which it was.  I limited myself mostly to one or two treats and stuck with a warm beverage for the evening.

I also tried to place myself near the space heaters as I do not enjoy being cold.

But that didn’t actually add any calories.

Don’t worry, I shared the heat.

This week I may have gone a little overboard on the walking as it was a way to make up for the excess calories I took in.  Plus, I tried to make up for a lot of not working out last week due to the heavy rains that came through.  In the end, I think it balanced.  I am looking forward to the quiet weekend this weekend.

Everyone got in their pre Christmas parties last weekend because soon everyone will be traveling to various homes elsewhere. It is the week after Christmas as everyone builds up to New Years that always get me.  But I feel fairly confident having survived most of the pre-Christmas gatherings.  I’m not sure how it will all shake out come New Years, but for now, I am content with my calories in, calories out equation.  I enjoyed treats, but didn’t go completely crazy. Which is exactly how I wanted to enjoy the holiday this year.

The Daily: December 16th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings! Today is a wonderful, glorious day. I am dancing and spinning with glee even as we speak. But what makes today so fabulous? I just finished the piece I have been editing. For the last few weeks I have had commas and paragraph points dancing in my eyes.

It has made me somewhat crazy to deal with and it has also increased the pressure around me. But now the editing is done, the new novel is in the system. Tomorrow it will be available for purchase and I will do the full announcement, but for now it is making it’s way through the computer’s system and there is literally nothing else I can do with it.

I have done my best and now everything is beyond my control.

Tomorrow of course I will worry about it and begin to suspect that I missed something vital somewhere along the way. For now I am reveling in the fantastic glory that is a completed novel.

Okay, breathing now. Happy dance becoming tamer.

This morning I went on a short walk. Once this is posted, I will probably go on a much longer walk. Then I will cool down and apply today’s face mask. I chose the Lookatme Raccoon Face Mask today. Mostly because I feel like I have spent the better part of the last two weeks with this same raccoon like expression on my face. I’ve tried the bear mask form this brand but I don’t think I have used the raccoon one. I know it is one of the line Facetory carries and is usually pretty good. This one is moisturizing and at this time of year, that is always a good bet for a face mask.

But before I get to that, I am going on a long walk where hopefully the sun, the wind and the exercises will blow the last of the punctuation fixation out of my brain.

Today’s Look:

Primer: OLE HENRIKSEN Banana Bright Primer

Foundation AoA Prowear Foundation

Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soliel

Blush: Ciate London Marbled Light Blush

Powder: No 7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder

Eyeshadow: Storybook Cosmetics Little Briar Rose Palette

Mascara: ABH Lash Brag

Lips: M2UNYC liquid lip in SOHO

I’ll be honest, while I am still testing out this new foundation, i mostly grabbed products that were easy to work with. I was trying to get the last loose ends tied up and while I wanted to look decent for a later meeting, I didn’t have a lot of extra time. I went for the Too Faced Bronzer because it is darker and this foundation is just a smidge too light for me. the shade issue is easily corrected if I decide that I want to continue using the foundation. I went with the Ole Henriksen primer thought because it is one of the few hydrating primers I like and at this time of year a little extra moisture helps keep everything from looking a little powdery.

Over all I think this look turned out pretty well for me. I’m happy with all of the products I used. I need to remember to reach for the Ole Henriksen primer more actually as it is it’s time of year to shine. I can’t use it in the summer because the banana bright aspect makes me look a little too shiny for my comfort. It works really well in the colder months though. Todays look may have been quick and easy, but I am very happy with the way it turned out and it will stand me in good stead with my late afternoon/early evening meeting. Which is also a good chance to test the longevity of the foundation.

but for now, I am going on a long walk to allow my brain to switch gears. And then, I get to look at the list of other things that need to be completed before I can rest easy and slip into the holidays. Happy Thursday Everyone!

The Daily: December 14th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. Things are a little calmer today. Deadlines are still looming and there is a rush to get things done, but the Monday morning panic has subsided. I think Mondays are just going to be panic ridden until the end of the year to be honest.

Or at least until everything is submitted and done. My goal is for that date to occur before Christmas. I can only imagine how insane the Monday after Christmas will be if that doesn’t happen. Hence the putting in a few extra hours each day to make sure the deadlines actually are met early. Then no one has to worry about things over the Christmas weekend and fear the wrath of the Monday after.

It is the curse of having a weekend holiday. It is more exaggerated as both Christmas eve and New Year’s eve are on Fridays this year, but it is always insane.

Today though, it is calmer. There was walking, even though the sunlight felt brittle as I walked through it. The sky was that bright cold blue though, which was pretty to look at even if it didn’t make the walk any warmer. I took the time for makeup today as well and I have a face mask picked out for this afternoon.

Today I am going with the Revitalizing Japanese Sake Sheet Mask from Glam Up. I have never heard of the brand before, but I find the Sake infused mask an interesting idea. Hopefully it will prove interesting on the skin as well.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Primer

Foundation AOA Studio Pro Wear Foundation

Bronzer/Blush/Highlight/Eyeshadow: Glam on the Go palette from Amuse Cosmetics

Brows: Billion Dollar Beauty Brow Pomade

Mascara: It’s so Big from Elizabeth Mott

Lips: bareMinerals Gen Nude Liquid Lipstick in pout

Setting Spray, Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist

This week I am mostly testing the AOA foundation. It, like the Amuse Palette that provided most of my products today came from Shop Miss A. For those that don’t know Shop Miss A tends to have almost all of their products for sale for only $1. I have to say I was skeptical but I am really liking this foundation today. I think I may have gotten a shade too light, but as it is only a $1 product, I don’t mind picking up another shade if this formula works well. It blended well and is staying in place quite well too. This week I’ll be rotating through primers and other face products to see how it performs with them.

Today I used the Benefit Primer since it is a long time favorite and I know how it works. As always it works well. I think the fact that it has a slight tint to it is also helping out the foundation shade.

Most of my products came from the Glam on the Go palette also purchased for $1 on the Shop Miss A site. The highlighter isn’t my favorite and I could do with a slightly darker blush, but over all the products are pretty nice. I think it would be pretty good for travel. I also think it would be a good palette for someone just starting to dip their toes into the world of makeup. The bronzer especially is a forgiving and blendable formula that would be really good for first practicing contouring and bronzing. the eyeshadow is a little on the powdery side so you have to remember to knock off your brush, but the shades work well together and blend really well together without becoming muddy.

I went with a really simple look and used the bareMinerals lippie to go with the muted look. It is just enough color to work for me today and I like this lip gloss. It is a sample size though and I am starting to get to the end of the sample. It is one that I use often enough that I will be getting in the full size. I really like their Gen Nude Line. They are great everyday kinds of shades and formula.

I accidentally went a little heavy on the brows today. Mostly because once I started in with the pomade I realized that I really needed to sit down with a set of tweezers and go after my brows. This is my favorite brow pomade though, I just had application issues today

The Mascara is not my favorite. It does okay with lengthening if you work with it however it is one of those mascaras I am using because it is open and once it is used up I will happily let it go.

Finally we come to the Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist. Technically it isn’t a setting spray. It is however quite useful today. The Glam on the Go palette is nice but it is a bit powdery (hence why I didn’t add powder on top). Spraying the Glass Skin Veil mist and then tapping it down with my makeup sponge really helped make it look a lot less powdery. I think with that Palette the glass skin was more of a benefit than a setting spray would be. Regardless, I liked it.

So that my darlings was my makeup for today. The Prowear foundation will be in use all of this week and possibly into next as I get a feel for it and try to decide how I feel about it. At the moment I am pretty happy with the $1 foundation and am looking forward to seeing how it performs with the other products in my makeup collection.

But alas, my time of sitting and chatting with you is at an end. While I have my sheet mask moment of quiet later on today, for now I must return to work if I am to stay on schedule. Until tomorrow my darlings!

The Daily: December 8th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. The sun is rapidly disappearing but I did manage to sneak in a walk before it vanished completely. In all honesty, I probably should have stuck to the workouts in the sunroom today. Today was cold and that wind was bitter and damp. It made my nose run, my eyes water and my lungs hurt. Not the best combo.

I will say though it did make the cup of coffee I had when I got back in after my walk feel as though it was truly the nectar of the gods. Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee and tend to drink it throughout the day. My current coffee comes from Amora so it is always good, but today it felt kind of magical. I know it probably has more to do with me and the wind than the actual coffee, but Amora does have good coffee. Oh and they have a special on right now too.

Get a bag of Amora Coffee for just $1.00, Plus FREE Shipping & Handling!

Even though I whine a little about the wind, it was actually good to get outside. It may have been cold and damp, but there was also a freshness to the air that is lacking in my indoor workouts. I suppose I could open the windows to let the breeze blow through the sunroom, but I think that might be something to do when I am not sweating through a workout. But if it is not raining tomorrow, I may just air the house out in general. I try to open up the windows and air the house once a week when I can, but with Thanksgiving followed by rain, I missed a bit of airing time. Not that it’s bad, I just really like the freshness of a good breeze to clear things out.

Of course with the way those clouds are rolling in again, no rain tomorrow might be an iffy prospect. I’ll have to play it by ear and watch the sky and weather forecast for my chance.

Inside today I have the late afternoon sheet mask to look forward to. I am going with the Aroma Blend Moisture Mask from Shangpree. It is the Esthetician Blend. I’ve used Shangpree masks before and liked them. I have no idea what an Esthetician’s blend is so that will be a fun thing to find out about. Nothing else on the masking package is in English so it will be a play it by ear kind of thing. I have my fingers crossed it is a pleasant scent.

But that is for later.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Figs and Rouge Blurring Primer

Foundation: KVD Vegan Beauty Lock it Powder Foundation

Bronzer: Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer

Blush: Floss Beauty Cheek and lip tint

Eyeshadow: Lime Crime Prelude Exposed Palette

Mascara: Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara

Lips: Wet n Wild Megalast in Cinnamon Spice

Today was interesting as far as makeup went. I’m still testing out the foundation and primer but I wanted to go to a different cream blush than the Rodial that I was testing since i wanted to compare it. I know technically the Rodial is a liquid blush but I couldn’t find my two liquid/gel blushes for some reason and I remembered that I really liked the Floss Cream blush stick. I will be looking for the other blushes this evening though. I think when i tidied up I put them in a different drawer. I’m betting they are together, I am just not sure where that together place is.

i still like the Floss lip and cheek tint as a cheek tint. I tend to pick one or the other. My two Milk cheek and lip tints became lip products, this became a cheek one. I have noticed that it is starting to dry out a bit. Only the top edge though, the rest of it is fine. I kind of scraped off the top of the stick and the product was fine. It was just the very top layer. It is in a metal tube but there is some air in it unlike the Milk products with the little plastic lid inside. I’m guessing that is why the dryness occurred. I think it may be something I have to watch out for and once this is done it may be a reason to whittle down my blush collection before I repurchase it. It is a good product, but with the current number of blushes I have it doesn’t come up all that often in rotation. Definitely something to watch.

Everything else is a standard favorite. The Lime Crime Palette is one I reach for a lot and the Wet ‘n Wild lipstick is a formula I enjoy. The Marc Jacobs mascara has been a favorite for a long time, but I think it is now discontinued so I am now using it with the knowledge that it may be the last one i have. I am going to have to go on a new favorite mascara quest at some point to replace it as my favorite. Thus far I’ve had a few close but not quite as good formulas. But I’ll wait to begin my quest in earnest next year. For now it was a great mascara to use. Over all I am pretty happy with the way today’s look came out. I even like the way my newest Ear Fleek Earrings look. It is just the right amount for today.

But alas it is Wednesday and I must get back to work if i am going to plow through the remainder of the day’s tasks. I hope your Wednesday is chugging along as you want and you are ready to face the downslope of the week as we slide into the weekend. Have a great rest of the day.

The Daily: December 7th, 2021

Good afternoon my darlings. Today, my nose is a little less runny and the sneezing is thankfully less. Which means that it is actually just the up and down weather and not an actual cold. Saturday the temps were in the upper sixties to low seventies (I know far too warm for this time of year) but it was warm air pushed in front of a rain storm. The rains came and it is now in the thirties. Such changes always make my nose feel somewhat offended. Hopefully the temps will settle down and we won’t have such major shifts for a while.

Wouldn’t that be nice?

I’m not counting on it though.

Even though the sun has actually started to peek through the clouds, the air is raw and damp and large portions of the walking trail are flooded, so workouts today were again in the sunroom. This time with an actual bit of sun included. I have to say the hand weights and yoga mat from Prosource Fit were a great investment. (they still have a 60% off sale going on right now). I’m not comfortable at the gym right now and sometimes weather prevents the walking trail from being used. I like having the back up of the weights and yoga inside the house.so I can still move a bit even if I don’t get my full work out in.

while I will never really be a gym sort of person, I’ve incorporated daily exercise into my routine for so long at this point that if I don’t at least get a little bit in each day I feel really off balance and twitchy. So it was You Tube Yoga and some workouts with weights today.

This afternoon’s sheet mask is going to be the I’m Lavender Mask Sheet from Tony Moly. I think I’ve used their Hemp mask before but I don’t recall using the lavender one so this will be a fun one to try. Hopefully it will be both hydrating and soothing without being overly floral. I don’t like when sheet masks are overly floral. They tend to make me feel like I should wash my face after, which sort of defeats the purpose of the mask serum in the first place. So we will see how that goes. I’ll let you know on the end of month masking recap.

For now, let’s talk makeup.

Today’s Look:

Primer: Figs and Rouge Blurring Primer

Foundation: KVD Vegan Beauty Lock It Powder Foundation

Bronzer: Trestique Bronzing Stick

Blush: Rodial Blush Drops

Eyeshadow: Storybook Cosmetics Little Briar Rose Palette

Mascara: Roen Lash Cake Black

Lips: MAC Love me Lipstick in Bated Breath

Glasses: ThinOptics

I forgot to take my reading glasses off when taking the pics. Personally, I love these readers. they are so light weight that they make no dent in the makeup and are super easy to wear. Also the case clips onto the back of my cell phone so I always have them with me. They are the MVP of my work life at the moment. Oh and if you think you may need readers but don’t know the strength, ThinOptics now has a Clarity kit so you can easily find out. My eyes have always been bad so glasses and readers have been a part of my life for a long time. And having readers I like to wear makes me squint less, so it helps with the fine lines around my eyes almost as much as the eye cream. After all not helping them to form is better than fighting the ones already there.

The primer and foundation I’ve been using for over a week now and I will be posting my full reviews on Thursday. The short version is that the primer is good at blurring and the foundation is more full coverage than I would have given powder credit for. In addition it doesn’t look all that powdery when on. Admittedly I used more cream products with it and skipped powder itself most of the time when using it, which helped.

The we have the blush drops. I like cream blushes. well, I like some cream brushes. I’m just not sure i like this one. when the drops are first placed on the skin I thought, that is a bit bright. then I blended it in and thought, where did it go. I added a little more and when blended it looked better. Of course today I think my entire face looks a bit on the pink side, but I’m not sure that is the blush. I certainly didn’t apply it on my nose. I think that might be due to the sneezing.

With the blush, it is a light pigment on the skin that easily blends away. I think I might want to try it with a BB cream to see if it lends itself more to a more natural look. In addition to the color, I am not entirely certain I like the texture of it against my skin. It is a heavier weight than some of my other cream blushes. I may actually swap it out for a different cream blush tomorrow so I can do more of a comparison, but to me it feels a little heavier on the skin. I may play around with it a bit more, but at the moment it isn’t looking like a top product for me,.

The storybook Cosmetics palette I always enjoy using, as long as I stay away with the blues. It is the rosier tones in this palette that I really like. The shades can be a bit powdery so tap off your brush before applying. They do blend well without becoming muddy. However they also tend to fade a but by the end of the day. You will still know you have eyeshadow on after eight hors of wear but it won’t be nearly as vibrant.

It you are interested in the palette, when I went to grab a link for reference I say that it is on sale. Usually it is $55 but right now it is $15. I think several of their other palettes are on sale as well. It is good eyeshadow, just remember to tap your brush and not to expect it to last for a full 12 hours. It’s big drawback is it’s size which is why I have it out as a decorative element rather than in the drawer. It simply takes up a lot of space. The book design is cute though. So at least it looks nice out.

The Roen mascara is a good basic mascara. It works well, but there is nothing spectacular about it. I will happily use this until it is done, but once gone I will see no real reason to repurchase it.

And finally we reach the lips. MAC is a long time favorite for the lips (although there aren’t a liot of their other products I really gravitate towards). This is a great color for me and feels very comfortable to wear. It is one I will continue to use and one that I will certainly replace when it is gone.

So that my darlings was today’s makeup look, the good, the bad, the indifferent. Well maybe indecisive would be a better descriptor than indifferent. either way there are products I love and products I will just use for now.
